Our ELA Unit Plans have been created by teachers for teachers and contain all of the materials necessary for a teacher to adapt and implement the unit in their own classroom, including descriptions of the learning activities and methods of assessment. All of our unit plans have been peer reviewed and reflect the standards and practices of the Quebec Education Program (QEP).

Reading Graphic Novels Through Critical Lenses to Recognize Power Imbalances and Discrimination

The overarching concept that guides this unit is “who is on the inside, and who is on the outside?” Students will explore stereotypes, media portrayals, biases, privilege, intersectionality, and race/gender/ability as a social construction. Two essential questions that inform this unit are: 1) What is discrimination? and 2) How does discrimination persist in contemporary society?
